Nison-in Temple is located at the foot of Mt. The temple is called Nison-in because it enshrines two deities, Shakyamuni Buddha and Amida Buddha, and is officially called “Ogurayama Nisonkyoin Kadai-ji Temple.
The temple was built during the Jowa period (834-848) at the request of Emperor Saga. The approach extending from the main gate is famous for its autumn foliage, and the autumn foliage, known as the “Baba of Autumn Leaves,” is as beautiful and breathtaking as a painting.
Inside the temple, there are Buddhist statues and sculptures designated as important cultural properties, allowing visitors to experience the rich world of history and art.
